BRINGING SOME GUM TO A KNIFE FIGHT
MELBOURNE FRINGE FESTIVAL (2019).
WRITTEN, DIRECTED + PERFORMED WITH SAM-BURNS-WARR.
The year is 2025… and as sea levels continue to rise, the Great Nation of Australia™ sends its two most gifted (and handsomest) climate scientists to prepare the people of the island nation of Tuvalu – the first cab off the metaphysical rank of extinction – for their imminent doom. But what starts as a harmless series of scientific modules, practical experiments, and hands-on demonstrations takes a turn for the worse when the scientists realise they've been abandoned by their home country – and the lecture rapidly devolves into a surrealistic romp through the politics and pitfalls of evolution, extinction, and the looming spectre of climate change.
A remounted production of the 2011 piece of the same name. Performed at the Fringe Hub: Trades Hall – Old Council Chambers, September 12-20, 2019.
